Exterior styling takes numerous cues from the Scirocco (not coming to the U.S.), most prominent of which is the roof, which rests lower in line with the body compared to the previous Golf. A more prominent shoulder line extends from the headlamps through to the tail lamps, giving the Golf a lower stance. “It is more accentuated, more three-dimensional than its predecessor; with precisely defined lines and edges, and with fine portioned flared surfaces and recesses,” says Walter de Silva, head of design for the Volkswagen Group.
