When Men Were Men
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the introduction of
Ford’s Model T. Over 15 million of the low-cost cars were
produced between October 1, 1908 and May 26, 1927, a number of
which went on to racing success. In celebration, Ford is entering
a restored Model T-Montier in the Le Mans Classic 2008.

Not So New
We are all getting older. Time is passing us by. Proof of these
statements comes in the form of a release from Volkswagen marking
the 10th anniversary of the New Beetle. The anniversary will be
marked at Europe’s fifth annual "New Beetle Sunshine Tour" that
features a drive along the Baltic Sea coastline.

Black Gold
Volkswagen has won the international “Golden Drop of Oil 2008”
award for its 90-kW TSI engine and 7-speed DSG gearbox
combination. The prize is awarded annually by the German
automobile club Kraftfahrer-Schutz e. V. (KS) for technical
developments in passenger cars that make "a significant
contribution towards reducing fuel consumption and safeguarding
the environment."

Doublin' Down
Closed since 2006, Ford’s Atlanta Assembly Plant recently sold to
real estate developer Jacoby Developments, Inc. for redevelopment
as an "aerotropolis" – an aviation-intensive business district
that will include office, retail, restaurant, and hotel space as
well as airport parking. The 122-acre site once produced the
Fairlane, Fairmont, Falcon, Galaxie, Granada, LTD, Ranchero,
Torino, Thunderbird, Marquis,
Sable, and Taurus.

Lost in the Ethisphere
Textile maker Milliken & Co.’s has been added to the list of
the World Most Ethical Companies, by the Ethisphere Institute , "a
think-tank dedicated to the research and promotion of profitable
best practices in global governance, business ethics, compliance
and corporate responsibility." The Ethisphere Institute and
Ethisphere Council are supported by more than 100 member
institutions and corporations.
